What should be considered before liposuction in Turkey

There are procedures that the patient and the surgeon should do before liposuction surgery. If done, the steps to increase success can be listed as follows.

to fill the bottom with liposaxin oil

In the meeting before the operation,

there is a mutual exchange of information and a planning structure strong, if the patient is overweight weakening first desired

The physician informs the patient about the operation.

If there is widespread lubrication (weight gain) throughout the body, the physician wants the patient to lose weight. The patient loses weight by doing sports and changing his diet. In this case, persistent local lubrication becomes evident. If there is not a general lubrication but a local lubrication that can be removed with liposuction in the body, there will be no need to lose weight.

The preferences of the patient and the areas where liposuction is desired are learned.

It is decided whether the liposuction application will be combined with other aesthetic treatment applications (such as tummy tuck).

It is determined whether the patient has had an operation recently.

The drugs used by the patient are learned. The physician requests a break from drugs that will pose a risk for surgery and anesthesia. Bleeding occurs during surgery. For this reason, the use of blood thinners and drugs that increase bleeding should be stopped a few days before the operation (such as aspirin).

Herbal supplements and herbal teas should also be interrupted, as they may have blood-thinning properties.

The patient needs to complete the healing process for the desired lookfafter liposuction previously it should be said.

The patient should be informed in advance that the desired results of liposuction cannot be achieved immediately after the operation or within a few days. Some patients are disappointed in this regard. For before and after (or before and after) pictures circulating on the internet, the recovery period must be completed. It is not possible to get the images in the form of ‘after’ in a short time.

Food consumption should be suspended before the operation before

In order to eliminate the risks during the operation (such as the entry of gastric contents into the respiratory tract), food consumption should be terminated 10-12 hours before the operation.

Smoking and alcohol use should be terminated before the surgery before

Smoking and alcohol delay wound healing and cause infection as they weaken the immune system. Since it also causes a decrease in the amount of oxygen in the blood, the act of drinking should be terminated at least 15 days before the operation.

Women should inform their physician if they are in special periods.

Even if there will be no significant negative effects before liposuction, women should tell the physician that they are in the menstrual period.

How is liposuction surgery done in Istanbul Turkey?

Different techniques are used for liposuction surgery. However, there are similar procedures during the operation. Below, the operation steps, which are generally similar, will be given.

Some operations before the operation

The patient arrives at the hospital 2-3 hours before.

Investigations are performed to determine the general health status of the patient.

If the analysis results are good, the operation is decided.

After liposuction is performed, a photograph of the operation area can be taken to compare the appearance exactly.

The patient is informed about the possible risks of the operation.

The patient’s allergy status is learned.

Before the operation, lymph massage can be applied to the area.

Drawing is done in the region of Operation

The borders of the areas where liposuction will be made and the places where the incision will be made are marked on the skin. These drawings guide the physician during the liposuction process.

The patient is anesthetized

Before the liposuction operation, local anesthesia or general anesthesia is performed by the anesthesiologist. The anesthesia method to be applied may vary depending on the patient’s anxiety level and the number of areas to be liposuctioned. If liposuction is to be performed in one area, local anesthesia (another type of anesthesia that provides relaxation and prolongs the anesthesia period) supported by sedation (ie numbing only the area where the liposuction will be performed) is a good option. In this case, the patient is awake and can watch the operation being performed. General anesthesia is preferred for operations combined with liposuction, which will be performed in more than one place and expected to take a long time. Due to the numbing procedures, the patient does not feel pain or pain during the operation.

Incisions are made

Small incisions of 2-4 mm are made over or around the edges of the areas to be degreased. The number of incisions to be made differs according to the amount of fat to be taken. Making the incisions inside the skin folds, if possible, mediates the indistinction of the scars.

Excess fat is removed with different techniques (Detailed information is given in the section on liposuction techniques).

Fluid and blood can be supplemented.

Since fluid and mass are lost during the operation, the patient’s fluid-electrolyte needs are balanced with intravenous fluids. In some cases, a blood transfusion may be done.

In some operations, a drain is placed.

In cases where the operation is long and bleeding, special pipes called drains are placed to remove the fluid inside. Drains are usually removed the next day.

Incision regions are sutured

The opened incision areas are stitched with suture threads that can be absorbed by the body. 1-2 stitches are sufficient to close the incisions.

Wound the area is closed

The wound area is closed with a bandage/wrap after disinfection.

Surgery time may varymay

Due to the liposuction procedure to be performed in more than one area, the operation time increases. The application of liposuction together with other aesthetic treatments is another factor that increases the time. The liposuction surgery to be performed in a single area is completed in 1-2 hours. Long-term operations can take 2-4 hours.

The patient stays in the hospital for 1 night and is discharged.

Although it is possible to be discharged on the same day after the surgery, it is generally preferred that the patient stay in the hospital for one night. In this process, blood is taken, blood pressure and body temperature are measured, pain is relieved with painkillers. The drain of the patient whose general condition is good is also removed. The physician prescribes the drugs to be used by the patient, makes recommendations and gives a day for the control examination.

What are liposuction techniques?

Classical liposuction method

The method using tumescent is known as wet method, classical method, conventional liposuction method or tumescent technique. A special sterile solution called tumescent is injected into the stubborn oily area that cannot be burned. The solution contains drugs that numb the area, narrow the vessels and reduce bleeding. This liquid mediates the swelling of the fat cells and their easier removal. Metal tubular cannulas with diameters ranging from 2-6 mm, which are associated with the vacuum device used to suck the oil, are guided through the incisions into the fat layer.

Techniques in which the cannulas are moved by vibration, apart from manual ones, have also been used recently. With the suction power of the vacuum device, the excess fat is removed from the body. The removed fat is accumulated and transferred to other parts of the body. It can be used for oil injection for shaping. The vacuuming process continues until the desired body shape and a smooth skin surface are obtained.

Ultrasound assisted liposuction application (Vaser liposuction method, UAL)

It is based on the breakdown of fat cells with ultrasonic sound waves. It is one of the most preferred liposuction applications. It has advantages over classical liposuction and laser liposuction. It provides a more homogeneous Liposuction application to the fat layers under the skin, less bleeding and provides more tightening of the skin than normal.

Vaserliposuction and fat injection were applied to our patient, who came to us because of a deformity in the body of the patient who had breast and abdominal liposuction surgery 5 years ago.

Ultrasonic liposuction, which has been highly preferred in recent years, is an auxiliary application that is especially beneficial in the hard parts of the body and reduces the power consumed during the treatment. It is a very effective method for creating a smoother body line.

Laser assisted liposuction application (Laser liposuction, LAL)

Laser beams are sent on the excess fat, due to the heat increase due to the rays, the fat cell walls are broken down and the fats begin to melt. Thus, the vacuum absorption of oils becomes easier. Laser lipolysis technique is mostly used together with tumescent liposuction method. This application is most suitable for patients who have little or moderate adiposity, especially in a few areas. It causes some tightening by stimulating wound healing in the subcutaneous support tissue. If this technique is used together with tumescent liposuction in patients with advanced fat accumulation spread throughout the body, sagging and irregularities that may occur in the skin are significantly reduced.

After keeping the device on the area to be degreased for about 12 minutes, the melted fat is taken out through small incisions. Since this adipose tissue is in a very small amount, it is removed by the body without any problems. Since the device does not generate heat, burns do not occur.

After the treatment, depending on the width of the area and the amount of fat removed from it, results begin to appear within 2-4 months. During this time, massage applications that provide lymphatic drainage and reduce edema are beneficial. In addition, laser lipolysis is an advantageous method, as it causes less damage, prevents bleeding, allows the patient to recover in a short time, and has a very short time to bandage after the application. After this application, which is performed in a clinical setting, there is no need to stay in the hospital for a day.

Superficial liposuction

In this application, in addition to the adipose tissue in the deep layers, the fat just under the skin is also removed. For this reason, a tighter skin is obtained in patients with a high probability of sagging skin. However, if trauma occurs under the skin, the blood vessels that feed the skin may be damaged and healing may be delayed.

Sometimes color changes can also be seen on the skin. However, due to the high vascular network on the face and neck, superficial liposuction can be used more safely. By removing the adipose tissue on the surface with thin cannulas, the procedure that provides subcutaneous irritation, pulling on the skin and a more taut surface, corrects the excess skin and provides a certain improvement in celluloids. As a result of the application of this method, there may be permanent skin damage, permanent discoloration and loss of vitality of the skin in the area.

Suction assisted liposuction (SAL)

Tubes with a small diameter are used in this method. . The tubes are moved slowly in the oily area and suction is performed. The physician, on the other hand, constantly checks the suctioned area with the other hand, looking at its thickness and softness.

Power assisted liposuction (PAL)

This application is similar to the suction assisted liposuction method. However, a device is used during this application. This machine helps to deliver special cannulas to the oily area. This method is especially used in areas with large amounts of oil.

Radio frequency assisted liposuction (RFAL)

It is a new technique that has started to be used for liposuction. The device is used during the application. First, the classical liposuction method is applied. Then, the skin is heated and tightened thanks to the radiofrequency device. This application is more suitable for patients who need to have abdominoplasty but do not want to have it done due to scarring.

What should be considered after liposuction?

Although liposuction surgery seems like a simple surgical procedure, the patient lost electrolyte, blood and fat, and incisions were made on the skin. The patient was placed under local or general anesthesia. After such procedures, there may always be big or small complications, situations that we do not want. The following recommendations are important in order to have a more comfortable post-operative period.

No need to worry about edema and bruises

It is normal to see edema and bruises after the operation. There is no need to worry. After a while, the edema disappears as fluids are absorbed by the body. The bruising due to blood collection also disappears and the area regains its normal skin color. Tingling and burning sensation are also symptoms that occur after the operations and go away after a while.

Corset is worn It is essential to use a corset so that the fluid that delays wound healing does not fill the space formed due to subcutaneous adipose tissue removal.

The corset increases the patient’s sense of confidence and reduces his fear and anxiety. Although it varies according to the patient and the amount of adipose tissue taken, the corset should be worn for 4-6 weeks. Otherwise, the skin may have difficulty recovering, the adhesion of the skin to the underlying muscle layers may decrease, and the skin may sag.

A road map should be drawn in order not to gain weight again.Regional fats were removed with liposuction. There is no reason why you should not gain weight after surgery. For this reason, it is necessary to switch to a diet that reduces weight gain, and to strive for a healthy and fit body by doing sports.

Plenty of fluids should be consumed.

It has an edema reducing effect. In addition, the fluids lost during the operation should be compensated. Even if there is no operation, attention should be paid to fluid consumption and plenty of water should be drunk. All vital activities in the body take place in a watery environment. Fluid consumption is also important for the skin to have the desired appearance and structure.

You have to be patient for the image you desire.

Despite the removal of fat in the operation area, it will take time to achieve the image that the patient expects. A little patience is required for the edema to completely pass and the area to take its original shape. The result of liposuction appears exactly at the end of 3-4 months.

Pain is mild and temporary. It can be relieved with painkillers.

Depending on the passing of the anesthesia and the movement of the muscles in the area, mild pain may be seen. There may be some pain in the first 3 days after the surgery, and then there is a rapid recovery. It is possible to get rid of these pains with painkillers recommended by the physician. Since the incision areas are very small, the pain that may last 2-3 days is also vague.

Rarely, side effects may occur. It will not occur if precautions are taken.

Bleeding and infection can be seen rarely after liposuction surgery. However, these cases are very rare due to the very small incision in the operation area. In these cases, the physician should be informed. It should be remembered that increased body temperature may be a sign of infection.

Medicines should be used regularly

Other drugs prescribed by the physician should be used as recommended. Painkillers and antibiotics are usually given after surgery.

Inspections should not be delayed

You should go for a checkup. The doctor will also remove your stitches during control examinations.

Massage the area if recommended by the physician.

Massages to be performed in accordance with the doctor’s advice can have a corrective effect on the contour (the shape and appearance of the area) that enhances the healing.

Take a break from heavy work and sports

After the operation, heavy work and sports should be avoided, rest as much as possible, and visits to places such as sauna, Turkish bath and solarium should be suspended.

Light movements and walking are good

Light walks with open arms can be done. Recovery should be expected for sports and exercise (though the doctor’s advice is important, it may be after 4-6 weeks). In this case, early mobilization is important to prevent complications such as deep vein thrombosis, which becomes evident with vascular occlusion, and to recover faster edema and fluids in the surgical areas.

You can take a shower according to the doctor’s advice.

Physician advice should be followed for showering. In general, bathing can be done after the 3rd day, provided that the stitched areas are not cut during the bath.

You should break some of your habits

Although it is not possible to completely quit alcohol and smoking habits, a break should be taken for 1 month. Otherwise, there will be a delay in wound healing, a decrease in the immune system, and a decrease in the amount of oxygen in the blood.

You can return to your routine work after 1 week.

After resting for 2-3 days, the patient can start his routine activities. However, it will be healthier to take a week off and rest.

What are the risks of liposuction surgery?

Unidentified seam trace

The number of incisions is few and the incisions are very small. The scar that will form is uncertain. As much as possible, care is taken to make the incisions in invisible places such as skin folds.

Temporary burning sensation

There may be numbness and burning sensation in the application area due to the changing tissue structure. This situation is temporary. Permanent loss of sensation is almost never encountered. For long-term loss of sensation, the doctor should be consulted.

The patient may not like the result of the operation

As a result of the operation, there may be results that are not aesthetically pleasing to the patient. Bump or dimple fluctuation may occur in the liposuction area even after the edema has subsided (approximately 6 months). It is the most common complication. Massages recommended by the physician can be performed to eliminate the fluctuation. Depending on the fat mass removed, sagging can also be seen. These conditions are usually related to the success of the operation and the skin structure of the patient. The patient’s non-compliance with the post-operative rules may also have an effect on the image. In cases where the desired appearance is not achieved, the liposuction operation can be repeated.

Fat embolism is extremely rare.

After the operation, blood and fat embolism may occur. It is not a common case. Embolism, which is one of the most dangerous risks, occurs especially as a result of occlusion of the blood vessel by fats. It can cause problems in the lungs, especially due to blockage in small vessels. visible. In the event that an embolism event is detected, special precautions should be taken in the hospital and the damage to be caused by the embolism should be prevented. Light movements and non-strenuous walks after the operation will reduce the risk of embolism.

If precautions are taken, there will be no bleeding in the surgical site.

Bleeding is one of the rare complications that can be seen. With the new liposuction techniques, the bleeding seen after the operation has decreased considerably. Especially in the case of removing a large amount of fat mass, blood accumulation in the area may be high due to the prolongation of the operation period. For this, it may be necessary to put a drain and remove the accumulated blood as a result of bleeding. Natural leaks seen in the first 24 hours should not be confused with bleeding.

  • Infection is extremely rare

Infection is not uncommon. Due to the small size of the incision area, infection will not occur if adequate precautions are taken. It should not be forgotten that smoking should be stopped in order to heal the scars and prevent infection.

These pains can be prevented by avoiding heavy and sudden movements and using painkillers recommended by the physician.

How many hours does liposuction surgery take?

Liposuction is completed in 1-3 hours on average. Operations to be performed in a single area usually take a short time. In cases where liposuction surgery will be performed in more than one area or liposuction will be combined with stretching surgeries, the duration of the operation is prolonged. After short-term operations performed with local anesthesia, the patient can be discharged. However, it is preferred that the patient stays under control for one night in the hospital, whether it is performed under local or general anesthesia.

Will there be any scars after liposuction? When do liposuction scars go away? Will there be traces of fat removal?

As in many aesthetic treatments, it is wondered whether there will be any scars after liposuction surgery. Compared to others, the incisions made during liposuction are quite small. Incisions with a length of a few millimeters so that the cannulas can enter are made inside the skin folds, if possible. The number of incisions is also less. These places, which are closed with 1 or 2 stitches after the operation, heal in a short time as long as the general rules are observed and the scars become too insignificant. Scar creams can also be used. Healing of incisions may be delayed due to smoking, diabetes, and straining the operation area with heavy work or sports.

Is liposuction surgery dangerous? Is liposuction harmful? Is liposuction surgery difficult?

Liposuction surgery is a non-hazardous surgical procedure under normal conditions. Before the operation, all information about the patient is collected and necessary examinations are made. However, there are issues that both the physician and the patient should pay attention to. Otherwise, it is possible to see some small or big risks.

How long does recovery take after liposuction? When does swelling go down after liposuction? When is the body shaped after liposuction?

After liposuction, it is usually possible to return to routine life a week later. It would be prudent to spend this process on leave. Active sports, sauna, fitness, hammam and spa activities can be started within 4-8 weeks, depending on the difficulty of the operation. Edema and swelling will also disappear during this time. However, it is necessary to wait 4-5 months for the complete disappearance of the swelling and the desired appearance.

Will there be lubrication in the liposuction area again? How to feed after liposuction?

With liposuction, stubborn fat that creates deformity in one or more parts of the body and disrupts the contour is removed. It is desired that the patient who will have liposuction be close to his ideal weight, otherwise he will lose weight before the liposuction procedure. Adiposity is formed by the storage of unused energy in the form of fat due to excessive caloric intake. In this regard, people who gain weight easily after fat removal should reduce their calorie intake and continue to exercise. If possible, plant nutrition should be a priority. Otherwise, both the liposuction area and the whole body will be lubricated. In case of regaining weight in the area where liposuction is performed, less regional lubrication is observed compared to the past, since the number of fat cells in this area decreases.

How is the collapse after liposuction?

Depending on the skin structure and the wrong choice of the operation technique, fluctuations and collapses may occur in the skin. This condition may be less common after surgery with new liposuction techniques. Skin softening, ultrasound therapy, radiofrequency applications and fat transfer injection can be performed to prevent fluctuations.

In which areas is liposuction done?

Liposuction is especially applied on the neck, jowl, arm, abdomen-belly, waist, back, hips, legs and knees where there is stubborn and unburnable fat accumulation. In other places where there is fat accumulation, liposuction can be an ideal option.

Will there be skin sagging after liposuction?

Even if the classical wet liposuction operation is performed, sagging is not common. If the patient’s skin is very loose and especially after removing excess fat, there may be sagging in the emptied area. Fat taken from deep in places where fat accumulation is high can also cause sagging as it weakens the tightness between the skin and the muscle layer. By using new techniques, positive results are obtained even in patients with loose skin such as plasma or Vaser. If sagging occurs despite these, surgeries such as tummy tuck-leg stretching or arm stretching can be applied.

What is the average cost of liposuction? Does the state cover the cost of liposuction surgery?

It is not possible to give an exact figure about the price of liposuction. Prices will vary depending on the condition of the patient’s skin, the number of areas where liposuction will be performed, the type of anesthesia and technique used, whether it can be combined with other aesthetic treatments, the price policy of the physician, and the district where the clinic is located. For the most accurate price, a doctor should be examined. Liposuction surgery is a procedure performed for aesthetic purposes and based on personal preference. Aesthetic treatments are not covered by the state. However, if there is a medical reason concerning health and with the approval of 3 physicians, it may be possible to cover some of the costs by the state.
